Businesses won’t thrive without sales. The process of selling a product or service involves a sequence of repeatable steps, from identifying your prospects to closing deals. In order to sell successfully, you need a working and effective sales process.

In order to have this kind of sales process, you must study, create, and manage your sales pipeline.

What is a Sales Pipeline?

A sales pipeline, in shorter terms, is a visual representation of the stages of your sales process. The primary function of a sales pipeline is to provide insights for your sales team to easily identify which leads are more likely to close a deal, or where your customers are in the buying journey.

The pipeline gives you an overview of your sales across different stages. Hence, this tool is one of the most important aspects of your business that you should not ignore.

Why your business needs to implement a sales pipeline

Beyond the insights and visual presentation and sales opportunity, a sales pipeline can bring so much more for your business. Here are the reasons why you need to implement a pipeline for your sales team.

Visual Pipelines let you see the value and quantity of your success

Not all marketing campaigns and lead generation activities result in income for the company. Most of the time, your business deals remain steady and stagnant for a very long time, such as when a sales rep has reached a prospect client and the client still hasn’t made a purchase.

With a pipeline, you can easily identify which of your leads have been stagnant for a while and which ones are most likely to do their first purchase. During the sales journey, the quantity or number of closed deals matters and the quality of each deal matters the most. Having a visual pipeline allows you to identify your market, validate your leads, apply score conditions, and identify if your leads can bring business opportunities or not.

Visual Pipelines allow companies to forecast possible revenues

In order for your business to be proactive, it is important for you to have a tool that helps you forecast for any possible revenue. A visual pipeline can help you with that. The pipeline can help show you which parts of your sales process are getting better and which ones need improvement.

Having the ability to forecast possible revenues is important because it helps your business determine the status of your financial goals. It also helps you think and rethink your marketing strategies.

Visual Pipelines give you a clear report of the critical financial metrics in your business

Operating a business requires you to be highly dependent on numbers. This is the reason why business owners have to double-check and verify their standing in each lead or prospect client so that they can identify a sales opportunity right away. This helps improve the sales process and ensure that your pipeline is working to your advantage.

Financial metrics are crucial for your business. They are your benchmarks that help you determine if your goals are met, if profits are within reach, and if you are finding it hard to close important deals.

Visual Pipelines give businesses the opportunity to evaluate their sales action as a company

Conversion rates are essential keys to improving customer experience and customer satisfaction. Your conversion rates are products of your sales strategy and action.

Through your sales pipeline, you can effectively identify the weak and strong points of your business cycle. This allows you to evaluate and re-evaluate (if needed) the appropriate actions for each stage in the sales cycle that is particularly weak and needs improvement.

When you have effective marketing strategies, you can cultivate better customer interactions along the way which helps increase your conversion rates.

Using Saphyte’s Sales Pipeline feature is quite easy. There’s no need for complicated processes because the system has already simplified it for you. Here are some basic steps on how to use Saphyte’s pipelines.

Creating a Pipeline with Saphyte

Go to the Admin panel. Under the Marketing & Sales settings, click ‘Pipelines’. Another way to create a pipeline is by navigating through the Deals tab, then click on ‘Manage Pipelines’. It will direct you to the Pipelines settings. Click ‘Add New pipeline’. Create a name for your Sales Pipeline (this is a required field). Add stages to your pipeline by clicking the ‘+’ icon. Click on the ‘Add Status’ button to assign a status to each stage of your pipeline depending on your business process. Once you’ve finalized your sales pipeline stages, click on the ‘Save’ button.

How to Create a Sales Hierarchy Pipeline with Saphyte

Sales pipelines don’t have to be in one form and they should also be flexible to your own business process. With Saphyte, you can organize your sales pipelines according to your business preference.

This feature is so flexible that you can use it to categorize your deals according to your sectors, team hierarchy, timeline, milestones, and many more – all designed to suit your business process.

Here’s how you create a Sales Hierarchy Pipeline with Saphyte.

Go to Saphyte’s ‘Admin’ panel. Under the ‘Sales & Marketing Menu’, click ‘Pipelines’.

You can create a new pipeline or edit an existing pipeline. Click the ‘Hierarchy’ tab and you can start setting your Sales Hierarchy.

Note: The Sales Hierarchy feature of Saphyte will solely depend upon your business process. You can create a hierarchy according to the timeline of your deals or according to your teams, or anything that suits your processes. You can add up to a maximum of 4 layers of hierarchy.

Name the levels of your hierarchy. You can also color-code each of the pipelines for easier visual identification. You can also use the Sales Hierarchy as a folder and sub-folder for all your deals. This will save you plenty of computer space and at the same time, minimize the risk of data loss.

Assign your team members to your pipeline. The moment you create a hierarchy pipeline, you will automatically be assigned as the manager of the pipeline.

Note: The Manager of the pipeline can have several perks, like modifying the settings of the pipeline, and updating and deleting functions. Your Team Members are only allowed to manage the deals like adding and updating deals information.

Once you have set up your Hierarchy, click on ‘Save Pipeline’.
